Flowers Brighten a Windowsill

Flower magazine’s Jessica Cohen shows how to create a simple bud vase arrangement to brighten a windowsill or tabletop

Sometimes a container inspires an arrangement as much as the flowers do. A set of small, glass, bud vases in a black metal rack seemed ideal for filling with flowers and brightening up the kitchen window. This simple windowsill arrangement can be made with small vases or bottles you have on hand. I used grocery store flowers, but garden flowers, foraged greenery, or even fresh cut rosemary and other herbs make a great alternative.

Windowsill Arrangement

Small containers are versatile and can be lined up down the center of a dining table, placed at individual table settings, or perched on a window ledge as we’ll do with these. There really are no rules for this design. Just have fun with it!
