Raleigh Adams is dressed in his Christmas-best with his dog, Tuna.
On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene swept through Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina demolishing homes, roads, and land—but most heartbreakingly, taking lives. Like many other areas, the town of Boone, North Carolina, continues to grieve its many losses and looks for hope amidst the chaos. Raleigh Adams, who creates planters and other outdoor structures at his eponymous exterior design studio, was born, raised, and still lives in Boone. As he also faces his own grief of watching his hometown crumble, he seeks every opportunity to help his neighbor.
Appalachian Classic Wreath
Parkway Pine Wreath
“As I’ve been walking around this morning looking at the damage, I’ve been thinking about the capacity that humans have to heal, that nature has to heal. There are things in life that we break or lose, and it’s just lost. But this morning, I heard chainsaws and watched personal trucks drive by—everyone doing some part to help each other out. It’s a beautiful side of life. I ask that you just consider donating—and perhaps even more importantly, it’s okay to say a prayer.”

This year, Raleigh is selling handmade wreaths from local Appalachian growers, helping to employ many of those affected most deeply by the storms. Additionally, $20 from each sale will be donated to Ground Effects, a North Carolina-based company that works in removing debris and fallen trees.
There are a variety of options, including Appalachian Classic, Carolina Cedar, Blue Ridge Mountain Boxwood, and Parkway Pine. Each wreath is individually gift-wrapped and includes North Carolina native pinecones and a mini plant mister, as well as instructions and care tips.
All wreaths will ship the week of Thanksgiving within the continental United States. When going about your Christmas planning, shopping, and decorating in the coming weeks, please consider purchasing a wreath from Raleigh to help support a man on a mission to uplift his struggling community.
