New York floral designers Darroch and Michael Putnam have wowed everyone from actress Gwyneth Paltrow to the arbiters of style at Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Bergdorf Goodman. (We’re still inspired by the holiday wreaths they shared with Flower in 2016.) Now, to learn floral design from the duo firsthand, you can simply log in to Putnam Flower Channel.

Launched last fall, the channel is an online platform where subscribers can live-stream floral design classes taught by Darroch and Michael and access their library of video tutorials. From the basics (tool kit organization, vase prep, and beginner arrangements) to color theory, advanced composition, and eco-friendly practices, both novices and professionals will find classes geared toward their needs. Or, as Michael puts it in the intro, “everything from a boutonniere to a large-scale installation.”

Fans of the Putnams’ best-selling book, Flower Color Guide, will appreciate Putnam Flower Channel’s database of over 500 flower and foliage varieties, categorized by color, seasonality, and size. In the virtual design studio, you can use the database to experiment with floral design ideas, down to the vase and backdrop, before creating them in real life. (See video below.)

Another aspect of the platform is its collaborative community. Members can share inspiration or business advice and hold discussions on industry issues, such as conditioning roses and designing without floral foam. putnamflowerchannel.com
