Flower: In three words, describe your floral aesthetic. Jackie Reisenauer: Colorful. Lush. Natural.

What flower best represents your personality, and why? A garden rose. It’s one of my all-time favorite flowers. I love using it in designs because it can pair well with almost anything. It’s romantic but also goes well with unexpected elements, such as protea, grasses, or berries. I like to think my personality is the same—amenable to many different styles.

FLOWER LIST: ‘Pinza’ daffodils, ‘Cloni’ ranunculus, pink and peach ranunculus, Fritillaria imperialis, Narcissus papyraceus, garden roses, ‘Snowmaiden’ scabiosa, andromeda, ‘Silver Parrot’ tulips, orange fringed tulips, kumquat branches

Name one of your favorite floral trends. The move toward nondescript palettes—the days of “these are my wedding colors” are over. This approach allows for a much more natural oral composition. We’re not trying to match Pantone swatches, combining hues of peach and seafoam green. We’re working with more of a “feel” and general vibe.

When and where are you happiest? When I’m at home in my backyard, surrounded by my flowers, plants, and most importantly my family.

Did you ever have one of those aha moments that changed your life in a meaningful way? Yes, when I became a parent. I finally got what everyone was talking about—the good, the bad, the impossibly tough, and the immeasurable love.

Name three people who inspire you. Martha Stewart, Virginia Woolf, and Beyoncé.

If you could take only three books with you on a journey into space, what would they be, and why? I’d take something educational, especially about propagating plants, and another about medical science, just in case I’d have to pull a Matt Damon in The Martian. And The Time Traveler’s Wife, because it’s my favorite book of all time.

What is your home style like? Eclectic. We have a mix of found pieces, ranging from vintage Herman Miller chairs to freebie roadside finds. Our look is peppered with practical Ikea furniture, handmade accessories, and locally sourced textiles. It makes decorating a lot easier when you’re not beholden to one particular aesthetic. When I find something I love, I know I’ll find a proper place for it in our home.

FLOWER LIST: ‘Cloni’ ranunculus, pink ranunculus, peach ranunculus, sweet peas, garden roses, daffodils (‘Pink Charm,’ ‘Ice Follies,’ and ‘Pinza’), hyacinth, andromeda. Get step-by-step instructions for making this linear arrangement.

Name three things that are essential to your well-being. Kombucha (I couldn’t last a week without it), a comfy bed, and sunshine, because you’ll always find me walking on the sunny side of the street. Literally.

What do you do to relax and recharge? Read. A good book is the easiest way for me to escape the daily grind.

Your favorite travel destination is . . . Austin, Texas. But after visiting and talking to all the locals, they’d prefer to keep their city on the DL. So I’ll just say it’s a pretty great place to be.

If you feel like indulging, what is your food of choice? I love creamy, heavy pasta dishes, preferably a ravioli stuffed with crab, like the one from one of my favorite restaurants, Bar La Grassa.

What are your three favorite movies of all time, and why? Elf, because I’m a nut for Christmas and a sucker for a laugh-out-loud comedy. Bridget Jones’s Diary for the same reason. And Amélie, because it’s beautiful, magical, and quirky.

What is your TV obsession right now? My favorite series of the moment is The OA. I don’t want to give anything away, but it may be the best show I’ve ever seen, and I’m a TV fanatic.

Your musical taste leans toward . . . Folksy stuff. I was raised during the era of Lilith Fair. My high school favorites included the Indigo Girls and Ani DiFranco. As a college student, I fell in love with Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams. And I’ve always been a fan of classics like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell.

If you could be something other than human, what would you be, and why? A bear. I’ve always thought, wouldn’t it be easier to be an animal? You get to enjoy plenty of human-like perks (raising a family, socializing, eating “good” food) without the pressure of society (global warming, retirement plans, and health insurance). And no one wants to mess with a bear. So, bear it is!

If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be, and why? My 2-year-old. I’d love to see what our life looks like through his tiny eyes.

If you weren’t a floral designer, you might be a . . . Hippie. That’s a profession, right? Seriously, ever since I was a teen, I’ve felt a deep connection to the earth. At 17, I wanted to postpone college so I could live on the beach and sell art. At 22, I wanted to quit my day job, buy a farmette, and live on the land. Now at 35, I don’t feel that differently, but it’s a lot harder to do these things while being a designer and running a small business. Fortunately, my job lets me work with nature while satisfying my artistic cravings.
