January 30, 2020 — We first introduced you to Fiona Tilley and her New York rooftop garden in Flower’s July/August 2019 issue. (Read the story here.) Tilley, who is wife and CEO to jewelry designer Gurhan, is also Australian, which ties the couple personally to the devastation caused by the fires there.

To help with relief efforts, the company is donating 50 percent of the profits from the sale of its Australian Opal jewelry to the cause.

While opals can be sourced from a wide range of countries, Australian Opals are special. “No country produces opals with such fire and brilliance as Australia. They come in such a wide range of colors from pale pastels to dark blue, but my favorite are the intense blue green of the crystal blue opal,” says Gurhan.

Proceeds benefit Earth Alliance (ealliance.org), a nonprofit supported with significant funding from Leonardo DiCaprio, and Australia Wildfire Fund (aussieark.org), created specifically to support the tragedy. Shop the collection of Australian Opal jewelry at gurhan.com.
