Ray Jordan and Janet Jackson of Birmingham’s FlowerBuds created six arrangements to complement and celebrate the colors of winter. They found inspiration in wintry landscapes as well as warm, cozy interiors.
White flowers paired with gray lichen–covered branches evoke a snowy woodland. FLOWER LIST: hyacinth, ranunculus, freesia, tulips, dusty miller, Spanish moss, moss twig
This frothy concoction of pinks and purples plays nicely with the icy silvers of the plateau and mercury glass. FLOWER LIST: Vanda orchids, ranunculus, hyacinth, snapdragons, stock, ‘Topaz’ roses, Asiatic lilies
A cachepot spilling over with pink and green blooms echoes the palette of the lakescape behind it. FLOWER LIST: viburnum, stock, hypericum berries, ‘Vuvuzela’ roses
Massing deep-red flowers in this heart-shaped silver vase adds a dramatic exclamation point to this neutral corner. FLOWER LIST: amaryllis, ‘Freedom’ roses, scarlet spray roses
Flowers in shades of green, together with pops of red berries and curly willow, create a design with movement and texture. FLOWER LIST: scabiosa pods, hydrangeas, Dianthus, hypericum berries, rosemary, bells of Ireland, dendrobium orchids, curly willow
Bring the sun inside on a wintry afternoon with a burst of warm reds, oranges, and yellow blooms in a rust- colored footed urn. FLOWER LIST: ‘Coffee Break’ roses, yellow tulips, mango calla lilies, ranunculus, Gloriosa lilies, mint, gerber daisy centers
