Winter '09 :: Wedding Feature
Bridal Bower
Flowers and weddings were made for each other. Say “I Do” to an abundance of fresh and fashionable blooms for the big day.

A web of rose stems studded with plucked rose buds echoes the simple, sophisticated lines of Angel Sanchez’s silk, modern lace, modified A-line gown. Delicate petal embroidery scatters across the tulle bodice like petals showering a new bride and groom. In the bouquet, Sahara and Amnesia roses, David Austin ‘Juliet’ garden roses, peachy cream Cyrtanthus, spray roses, and lavender mini Cymbidium orchids complement each other’s subtle color variations.

Sybil Sylvester took the form of this Anne Barge one shoulder, silk tulle trumpet gown as her inspiration in reverse, when designing a piece of pussy willow, silver-painted cat tails, calla lilies, white kale, snowberry, silver-painted rose leaves, and silver-painted Autumn clematis. From its ruched bodice, this gown unfurls to a flounce skirt detailed with hand-sewn, silk organza petals and flowers. On Mia’s shoulder rests an oversized, silk organza flower, as beautiful and ethereal as the single calla lily she holds.

Tumbling like secret treasure from an antique gold cabinet, a train of hydrangea, Polar Star and Vendela rose hand-ties spill out onto a collection of Dendrobium orchids, clematis vine, ivy, white tulips, calla lilies and snow berries.

An informal portrait captures Lisa perched on a flowered bench in the “Rose Garden” gown by Lela Rose. Tufts of 3D tulle roses decorate the empire waist and trail down the ivory, Chantilly lace V-neck gown from the knee to the hem. The floral “rope” winding its way around the curves of the antique bench is braided with Sahara, Polo, Amnesia, and Vendela roses, David Austin ‘Juliet’ garden roses, gardenias, hydrangeas, and orchids.

From her New Orleans studio, Suzanne Perron crafts couture gowns to suit each of her brides flawlessly. In this silk shantung A-line gown, Jen kneels to pluck a flower from the mercury glass garden offering up hydrangeas, roses, pink nerines, Gerber daisies, and Mokara orchids. Sculpted, fabric flowers on the draped bodice and along the hemline keep our bride blooming throughout her special day.
